As Jason Hartman loves to say, “It’s an amazing time to be alive!” Nowhere is that sentiment more appropriate than in the area of stem cell therapy. Jason welcomes author, entrepreneur, and stem cell expert, David “Avocado” Wolfe to episode #53 of The Longevity Show to discuss the state-of-the-art in stem cell healthcare. Wolfe, who prefers to be called Avocado, let’s his conviction show through when it comes to discussing how stem cell therapy can repair the body right now. It’s not science fiction, folks!
Avocado: The Big Picture
It’s an amazing time to be alive because we are in a breakthrough period in self-healthcare. Humans have been investigating cell-based longevity technologies for at least 15 years, but there have only been major improvements in the last 5 years. Using an individual’s own bone marrow seems to be the way forward since many of us didn’t save our umbilical cords, which are the very best source of stem cells. The success of such technologies is dependent on using your own stem cells and not synthetic or animal based alternatives. Balancing our hormones and increasing nutrition levels are vital for longer lives and better health.
Behold the NutriBullet
Before jumping feet first into the ins and outs of stem cell therapy, Jason quizzes Avocado on the state of the art in food juicing, the NutriBullet. As a long time user, Jason is interested in what makes the recently released version, the Pro 900, so much better than those that came before. As the go-to guy on all things to do with food and health, Avocado says that the new NutriBullet manages, through the miracle of modern technology, to cram 900 watts of power into a tiny space, creating a 22,000 RPM torque vortex that liquefies everything in its path.
What’s so great about all that torque? Long time health food junkies have likely realized that some foods, like wheatgrass and kale, are just plain tough and difficult to turn into liquid. For about $100, you can snag yourself a Pro 900 NutriBullet. Nothing can escape that vortex in chunks.
Stem Cell Therapy: The Basics
According to Avocado, stem cell technology is already to the point that we have the ability to harvest bone marrow stem cells then inject them into the bloodstream to target long term health issues. Avocado related his personal experience with a dental problem he had suffered with for more than two decades. A single treatment, drawn from his own bone marrow, created complete healing in five days.
Another personal experience was the case of his elderly mother, who had been confined to a wheelchair as a result of arthritis. A similar bone marrow treatment was able to get her back on her feet and enjoying life again. Granted, these both could be considered anecdotal evidence, but to anyone suffering from an acute or even chronic debilitating injury or illness, it’s difficult to discard the stem cell therapy approach out of hand.
Treatment Available Everywhere But Here
As with many medical developments, don’t expect the United States to be on the bleeding edge of advancement. Both Europe and Mexico are likelier targets if you want stem cell therapy. That’s not to say it’s impossible to locate providers here, but it’s harder. Avocado said the US-based group does not have a website and works almost exclusively with professional athletes. But he did provide one solid resource, the telephone number of one of the leading practitioners of stem cell therapy. The man’s name is Tony and he can be reached at (786) 298-6477. Another group of Mexican and American doctors have a research and treatment clinic outside the city of Guadalajara in Mexico.
So…What’s the Catch?
Avocado’s obvious enthusiasm for stem cell therapy, as regular listeners might expect, makes Jason play the devil’s advocate. He asks if there are any known side effects from the treatment? If it heals problems at the cellular level, couldn’t it also magnify cancer cells? While Avocado wholeheartedly concurred that it was critical to use only the right doctors and stem cells, he said the process is extremely safe when a person uses their own stem cells. Essentially, you are being injected with your own tissues.
Do you happen to still have your umbilical cord? Neither Jason nor Avocado answered in the positive, as would be the case with most of us. The reason the question arose is that an umbilical cord contains embryonic stem cells, which are the master cells and provide the most bang for your buck when it comes to repairing the body. The other obvious source of embryonic stem cells would be live or recently deceased fetal tissue. Harvesting stem cells in this manner has been a BIG moral/ethical topic of debate for years. If you still have your umbilical cord stashed in a Ziploc bag in the freezer, good on you! That’s your pharmacy for the rest of your life!
Are We All Dying From Calcification?
In layman’s terms, the reason stem cell therapy works is that it bypasses the body’s calcification process. As Avocado describes it, calcification is at the heart of many age related diseases like stroke, heart attack, hardening of the arteries, arthritis, skin problems. It is as if our bodies are being turned to stone as we age. Though medical science describes all these as different ailments, they are all driven by a singular process – calcification.
